Meet Yurika Chiba

Yurika Chiba grew up in Toronto and recently returned after 20 years in artistic leadership with San Jose Taiko, an organization with more than 50 years of internationally recognized taiko history.

Yurika is a performer, composer, choreographer, and instructor for taiko players of all ages, experiences, and abilities. With a background in psychology, she encourages ongoing exploration and sees taiko as a space for healing, holding tension, learning, connection, and expression.

She was one of 18 international taiko artists featured in the documentary Finding Her Beat and has been a guest instructor and panelist at major taiko gatherings including the North American Taiko Conference, Connect, Women & Taiko, and the Toronto Taiko Festival.
